Past majestic vistas unfolding both seaward and inland, Highway 132 nobly forges its way along the shore, enticing the visitor from wonder to marvel until they have reached the end of the road's 885-kilometre circumnavigation of the Gaspé Peninsula.
Since 1929, the year it was completed it has led travellers through each of the Gaspé's five tourism sectors: the Coast, the Haute-Gaspésie, Land's End, Chaleur Bay and the Valley. Along the way, vistors discover a region of unequalled charm, a region redolent with the perfumes of the sea, a region where a generous nature daily paints magnificent vistas.
Sainte-Flavie, jusly known as the "Gateway to the Gaspé", marks the beginning of your route regardless of whether you choose to explore the loop from the north or from the south.
The northern route takes you along the shore of the mighty St.Lawrence River until you arrive, suddenly, at the very tip of the peninsula where you can admire the untamed vastness of the Gulf. Should you choose to take the southern approach, you will first travel through a verdant land, that of the Matapédia Valley - home of the salmon - before reaching Chaleur Bay where you can relax on its broad, inviting sandy beaches.
Whatever route you choose to follow, all roads irresistibly draw you onwards to discover the natural bounty of the entire Gaspé Peninsula. Enjoy your journey!
