Sayabec (pronounced “say-beck”) is derived from the Mi’gmaq word Sepeg, meaning “river blocked by beaver dams.” Discover Pierre-Brochu park (boat landing), which gives you access to Lake Matapédia; Seigneurie-du-Lac-Matapédia regional park, which is an ideal place to relax (sand beach at Baie à Charlie); and Tournant-de-la-Rivière park (heritage train station open in the summer and path along the old railway track).
