The five regions of Gaspésie have each their own personality. Together, they form the out of the ordinary, vibrant, welcoming and gourmet journey that is Gaspésie. Discover them!
- Once you arrive in Sainte-Flavie via Route 132 or in Mont-Joli via Highway 20, you can choose to start your itinerary either by the South or the North tour.
Here, Route 132 splits to form an itinerary loop of approximately 885 km. Whatever your decision may be, all through your journey you are sure to find the most diversified and picturesque sea and mountain landscapes, valleys, bays and coastlines.
This vast territory is divided into five regions:
The Coast
Situated along the coast of the majestic St. Lawrence River, this region features a series of small, picturesque villages rich in heritage, clear rivers home to abundant fauna, a green setting of fields and forests, and a blue-waved sea lapping at its shores.
The Haute-Gaspésie
Several rivers cut into its landscapes, an abundance of wildlife and plant species live in this wild and peaceful habitat, small charming coastal villages bring the region to life, and the nearby River feels like an ocean.
Land's End
This region offers some of the most dramatic and spectacular landscapes in Gaspésie. With its breathtaking sharp cliffs, and a particulary rugged topography created by the Appalachians, this area and Forillon Park marks the continental end of this mountain range.
Chaleur Bay
This seaside region will seduce you with its long inviting beaches caressed by the waves of a sea beaming with magnificence, and with its mountainous panoramas and red cliffs.
The Valley
Known worldwide for its salmon fishing, the Matapédia River twists and turns over more than 70 km; as for the lake of the same name, it prides itself on being the largest freshwater body in the Gaspésie.
