What are the hiking trails to explore in Forillon National Park? There is nothing like a hike to fully appreciate the wonders of Forillon National Park! Here are 5 trails to explore in this sector.
Cap Bon Ami and Mont Saint-Alban
Perched at an altitude of 283 m, this observation tower provides access to a spectacular 360-degree view of the surrounding area. Depending on your departure point, you can reach the tower in an hour or hike the loop trail in about 4 hours. Intermediate level.
Du Banc trail
Newly developed, the Banc Trail is a 4 km round-trip walk with universal access. It’s the perfect spot for a picnic while admiring the endless sea, the cliffs that have made Forillon famous, and the Cap-des-Rosiers Lighthouse. Rated as easy, this hike can be extended by adding the Prélude-à-Forillon loop trail (0.5 km). Located near the new Visitor and Discovery Centre, it leads you through a hardwood forest and then along the gravel shore.
La Chute
One of Forillon National Park’s hidden treasures, the La Chute trail is spectacular! Follow the winding boardwalk and wooden stairs through the forest for about 30 minutes to a lovely 17-metre-high waterfall. Intermediate level.
Les Graves, Cap-Gaspé and Land’s End
The Les Graves trail is a classic that will take you along Gaspé Bay on foot or by bike all the way to Cap-Gaspé, at the tip of the peninsula, which is known as “Land’s End.” Keep your eyes peeled and admire the landscape, the lighthouse and, with any luck, whales swimming offshore! Distance of 8 km (round trip), duration of 2 to 3 hours, intermediate level.
La Taïga, Penouille
Located on the Penouille sandspit, the La Taïga trail is a wide 1.5-km boardwalk accessible to hikers and cyclists. On one side, you can admire a sandy beach and, on the other, a salt marsh frequented by birds. Have your binoculars ready! Easy level.
