The Forillon Cliffs
The Wild Beauty of Forillon
Open your senses wide and walk through the wild beauty of the Forillon Peninsula, now protected by a national park.
Here, the Gaspé Peninsula stretches between sheer cliffs and endless sea. Forillon amazes visitors with its spectacular views, ridge trails and boreal forest inhabited by elusive wildlife. In the park, you may encounter curious seals along coves, seabirds in flight and occasionally even bears in the undergrowth.
A must-see for anyone who dreams of communing directly with nature, this vast territory can be explored on foot, by kayak or on cross-country skis, depending on the season. Forillon is a place to explore slowly, with your eyes wide open.

Located near Gaspé, Forillon National Park protects a magnificent 245-km² territory where land meets sea. A unique park, it is the only one in the region that is managed by Parks Canada. In addition to rock formations dating back 450 million years, the park features cliffs and headlands opening onto the horizon.
Forillon also stands out for the variety of experiences it offers, which visitors can enjoy at their own pace. From spring to fall, you can hike through the forest, bike, camp, stroll along beaches or fish from the wharves. You can also visit the Fort Peninsula underground fortifications, discover heritage buildings, go on a whale-watching cruise or rent a kayak to explore the park’s coves. Note also that dogs are welcome in many sectors of the park.
One popular trail leads to the Cap Gaspé Lighthouse and the lookout at Land’s End at the edge of the cliffs. From there, you can admire an incredible view of the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
We recommend you spend at least one full day visiting Forillon. If time allows, you will want to extend your stay to fully savour everything the park has to offer.

Discover Forillon in Every Season
Fall is a great time of year to explore Forillon, when the colours of the leaves transform the landscape. The view from the Mont-Saint-Alban tower is breathtaking at this time of year. This is also a great time to go hiking or set off on a cruise to see the last whales of the season.
In the winter, only certain areas of the park are accessible. In the La Vallée sector, a few cross-country ski, snowshoe and fatbike trails are maintained by volunteers. Elsewhere, the roads are not plowed, and no services are offered. The park is not officially open from mid-October to late May, but visiting is still permitted. You just need to be self-sufficient, well-prepared and responsible for your own safety.
Forillon can be discovered and rediscovered from spring to fall, with each season revealing a different facet of the landscape.
