From spring to fall, Gaspésie offers a variety of fishing experiences at sea, in rivers and on lakes. Whether fly fishing or angling during a guided excursion or from a wharf, there is something for everyone in Gaspésie. If you want to fish on your own, with friends or as a family, many local companies offer customized packages and even introductory experiences.
Mackerel, trout, striped bass… the species available vary according to the season. Atlantic salmon, however, must always be released after being caught, as required by provincial regulations. And while lobster is integral to the culture and cuisine of Gaspésie, recreational lobster fishing is prohibited.
In Gaspésie, fishing offers the opportunity to relax and enjoy nature while surrounded by coastal and mountain scenery.
Important Information
The Québec government’s interactive map indicates fishing periods, zones and exceptions for sport fishing for Atlantic salmon, striped bass and trout, among other species. Zones 1 and 21 cover the region of Gaspésie.

A fishing license is required to go sport fishing in Québec, with some exceptions, as specified in provincial regulations.
