Reford Gardens

200, route 132
Grand-Métis, Québec G0J 1Z0

This open-air living museum blends history, horticultural expertise, design, architecture and inventive gastronomy in perfect harmony. A National Historic Site of Canada and a heritage site of Québec, the Reford Gardens—recognized as one of Québec’s wonders—rank among the great gardens of the world. Some 3,000 plant species and varieties are grown here, including several that are very rare, such as the famous Himalayan blue poppy.

The permanent exhibition “Elsie as seen by…”, presented in the Estevan Villa, introduces visitors to Elsie Reford, the creator of the gardens (designated a Québec historic figure in 2024), while temporary indoor and outdoor exhibitions highlight artists from the region. Cultural events are held here every summer.

Starting in late June, the International Garden Festival invites visitors to discover about twenty contemporary gardens imagined by landscape architects, architects and designers from around the world. These original installations enrich the visitor experience for children and their families. Fun and educational at the same time, they encourage visitors to play while reflecting on current issues, especially environmental ones.

To fully savour your visit, reserve a table at the Estevan Villa restaurant or stop by Le Bufton café-bistro to enjoy a culinary journey where every dish celebrates the natural cycle of the Gaspésie seasons. Inspired by the site’s biodiversity, the experience offers gastronomy that echoes the surrounding gardens.

Before you leave, make a stop at the horticultural boutique. You’ll find a range of floral-inspired specialties prepared from plants in the horticultural collection, along with gift items and local crafts. Wheelchairs and strollers are available free of charge (reservation recommended).
