Amqui means “the place to have fun” in the Mi’gmaq language. Located at the point where the Matapédia River and Lake Matapédia meet, at the intersection of routes 132 and 195, Amqui is a village-relais, which means it offers a diversity of quality services, including accommodations. Its horticultural beautification efforts have earned the town four “florets” (awarded by Fleurons du Québec).

Various restaurants and accommodations, Pierre-et-Maurice-Gagné park, water play area, covered bridges (Anse-Saint-Jean and Beauséjour), water fountain, mural, summer shows (show venue, agora), salmon fishing, bikeway, hiking and ATV trails.
