Causapscal (ville)

1, rue Saint-Jacques Nord
Causapscal, Québec G0J 1J0

Causapscal is located in the heart of a beautiful forested area, the Matapedia Valley. In 1839, an important relay station was established at the meeting Matapedia and Causapscal rivers. The item inherits the name of Les Fourches (The Forks). It was only later that it pointed to the locality Causapscal. This name comes from the Micmac word Geosopsgiag meaning stony or rocky headland tip.

For nearly a century, Causapscal attracted many visitors by the practice of Atlantic salmon fishing. In 1870, Lord Mount Stephen put up a real fishing area by buying many lands bordering the Matapedia and Causapscal rivers.
