Port-Daniel–Gascons, between sea and mountains… Here, nature lovers can enjoy a bay, a barachois, lakes, rivers, small fishing harbours, hiking trails and a warm welcome.
Formed through the merger of Port-Daniel and Sainte-Germaine-de-l’Anse-aux-Gascons, this municipality has a rich history: Jacques Cartier celebrated the first mass in North America here in 1534; commercial travellers displayed their wares at Maison LeGrand; the Colborne was wrecked near Port-Daniel; the train station is over 100 years old; the town is home to the only railway tunnel still in operation in Québec; and world-renowned novelist Gabrielle Roy and Québec’s great painter, Marc-Aurèle Fortin, both lived here.
