The Glaude-Arbourois people live in this municipality that brings together two distinct villages: Rivière-à-Claude and Ruisseau-à-Rebours. Separated by lowlands, these localities are nestled at the foot of the mountains and border the shore.
There are two interpretations regarding the origin of these villages: the first gets its name from the distortion of Rivièreà-Glaudes, so named because of the kingfishers or glaudes that fished for trout in the river. The second interpretation arises either from the name of a land surveyor (Arbour or Harbourg), or from the meanders created by the river at its mouth where water seems to flow in the opposite direction (à rebours). Come and stop at the Pierre-Drapeau lookout.
