Visit this museum to discover the history of the fabulous Gaspé Peninsula as you have never seen it before! Be among the first to visit our new permanent exhibition where you can see over 380 million years come to life. Enjoy an immersive experience into the history of Gaspésie!
Dive into our maritime history with The Deep Blue Sea, an exhibition that tells the story of the region of Gaspésie through 15 sailing vessels as well as the life journeys of various people of the sea. You can also visit the famous La Gaspésienne no. 20, an authentic cod fishing boat.
In the summer, the grounds of the museum are also worth a visit. See the Jacques Cartier Monument and an exact replica of the cross erected by this famous navigator in 1534.
The museum also houses a gift shop selling local products and an archives centre. It also edits Magazine Gaspésie, Québec’s oldest history magazine.
