The Mi'gmaq community of Gesgapegiag is located in the Chaleur Bay region. This First Nations Reserve is a peaceful community with a park and tepees located along the seashore.
Gesgapegiag holds an annual pow-wow, on July 27 and 28, 2019, a gathering open to anyone interested in celebrating the Gesgapegiag community. Showcasing music, dance and traditional dress, it is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the Mi'gmaq culture.
Don’t forget to stop in at the Lobster Hut to enjoy some freshly caught lobster. Gesgapegiag also runs a co-op craft shop where you can buy various items by Mi’gmaq crafters, including handmade baskets and jewellery, dreamcatchers and many other items. With its unusual architecture, the tepee-shaped church draws the attention and visitors.
