For many years, the Matane River has been considered an ideal place to learn how to fish for salmon in Québec. Many anglers have caught their first salmon on this river, which is easily accessible along most of its length at low cost.

Fly-fishing school: Learn the correct way to fish for salmon thanks to a unique program offered by SOGERM. Whether you are an adventurer looking for a new challenge or an angler wishing to improve your fishing techniques, the Matane River offers you the opportunity to enjoy a fun salmon-fishing experience on your own, with friends or with your family. (Fishing gear is provided during training sessions.)

Observe a natural phenomenon at the Mathieu-D’Amours dam: From the coast of Greenland to the mouth of the Matane River, Atlantic salmon journey a long way to reach their spawning grounds. Observe this anadromous fish through two large glass windows as it travels up a unique fishway. An exhibition provides even more information about the magnificent Matane River and Atlantic salmon, the king of fish.
