What to do in Gaspésie in March

In March, spring break is in full swing. Families enjoy skiing, skating, sliding, snowshoeing, or visiting an outdoor activity center before heading back for a hot chocolate. Later in the month, people look forward to the arrival of crab season and continue to enjoy winter activities, now with the added bonus of sunshine. For snowmobilers, the season lasts until mid-March. A few sugar shacks also open their doors, offering sweet maple treats.

Important Information

Winter hiking may involve muddy trails, snow at higher elevations, and very cold temperatures. Make sure to wear appropriate clothing.
Crampons make it possible to access the trails, whatever the conditions.

Important Information

An access permit is required for all snowmobilers using Quebec’s trails. It can be purchased from the Fédération des clubs de motoneige du Québec.
Trail conditions are updated regularly and should be checked before heading out.
All laws and regulations regarding off-road vehicle use must be followed at all times.

Please note that, for safety reasons, the Sainte-Madeleine-de-la-Rivière-Madeleine bridge located on trail TQ-5 will be closed for the 2025 season. The possibility of offering a shuttle service around the footbridge is currently being studied. Check iMotoneige for updates.
