Research center in marine science
This summer, explore the impacts of climate change on our aquatic ecosystems during guided tours at the Maurice Lamontagne Institute, the Fisheries and Oceans Canada's research center.
Dive into the heart of three main themes:
- Research: Learn how our scientists study fish populations, marine mammals, and environmental conditions.
- Innovation: Explore cutting-edge technologies used to map the seabed, monitor currents, tides, and water levels.
- Protection: Learn more about efforts to conserve the St. Lawrence, protect species at risk, and manage aquatic invasive species.
Through more than twenty stations, including the tanks room and the ship workshop, the guides will transport you into the heart of marine protected areas, climate issues and human impacts on our aquatic environments. You will discover the marine St. Lawrence and the species that inhabit it: whales, seals, sharks and many others.
The institute is located by the sea, between Sainte-Flavie and Reford Gardens.
Free guided tours on reservation. Book by phone, 418-775-087, or by email. Be sure to provide your name, phone number, number of people and desired time of visit.
